New Writing Prompt Competition

My ebook publisher, Gypsy Shadow Publishing, has just announced their next writing prompt. Two of my blogger friends won the last writing prompt, so it can be done!

from the GSP website:

"Look at the picture and write a story to go with it. All stories will be judged on originality, content and appropriateness. Stories should be a minimum of 3000 words and adhere to our writer's guidelines. Deadline for entry in the third round is October 31, 2010. The winning entry will be published as an eBook in a subsequent publishing cycle. One entry per contestant, please! Winners are encouraged to enter any and all contests, but are not eligible to win again for at least 6 months after they have won, to give others a fair chance to participate. The picture on the left will be your cover art (or a large part of it). Here's to your inspiration!

Contest for Teen Novel Publication

Wyvern Publications, my publisher for The Voices of Ire, is holding a contest for a publishing contract. There is an entry fee, but I think it may be worth it if you have a teen novel you couldn't get an agent for just sitting around. The due date's not until December, so there's even enough time to write a completely new teen novel by then, especially if you do one for NaNoWriMo in November.

This is taken right off their website:

"Please send in the first chapter of your completed novel, a one page complete synopsis, and payment with the entry form (see downloads at the bottom of this page). We're looking for unique teen fiction in any genre. We want something fresh, engaging and character driven. No extreme violence, sex or profanity please.

Closing date is 12 December 2010 and the winner is announced 5 May 2011. The most promising entry will win a full novel and synopsis critique worth £350 and a publishing contract.

Post entries to: Wyvern Publications, 29 Nash Close, Lawford, Essex, CO11 2LE. E-mail submissions for non UK residents only please..."

Anyone going to enter? If so, I'll help you out and read your chapter before you send it in!

Writing Competition

My publisher, Gypsy Shadow Publishing, just announced their writing prompt for this month's competition. the story has to be a minimum of 3,000 words. Deadline is August 31st, 2010.

The winner's story will be published as an ebook with Gypsy Shadow Publishing. Although you probably won't make a ton of money selling this as an ebook, it would be a writing credit, you would get an editor to work with (great experience), and you'd learn more about the process of making an ebook.

Anyone interested?

Competition for Publication

Do you have a YA book lying around that you couldn't get an agent for?

Wyvern Publications, the UK publisher that is publishing my YA fantasy Epic, The Voices of Ire, is having a competition for publication. The winner gets a contract with Wyvern Publications.

Here is the link if you are interested. You'll have to scroll down through two other competitions to get to the rules. Granted, there is an entry fee, but this publisher means business and will publish the winning YA book IN PRINT for free. I think it's better than going the self publishing route, especially if you've already shopped the book around and no agents took an interest in it.
