Ghost Stories, anyone?

So I heard back from the pirate anthology and the Explorers anthology and got two rejections. *pouts* I just have to remember all the anthologies I did get into. Now it's up to 6 with two more on the way. (Aurora Wolf 2 and Raven and The Writing Desk)

I can't pout for too long. Here's a new Gothic ghost story anthology that has a great cover.

They want different locations, so my story is set in Jamaica. I visited Jamaica on a cruise a few years ago, and I thought the island itself was scary enough without ghosts! Someone actually walked up to me and asked if I wanted to buy weed. I'm not even kidding you! This was the first time in my life I've been offered drugs.

I politely said no, of course!

And we saw a man by the side of the road carrying a machete. Whether this was for crops or for self defense, I have no idea. But man, Jamaica was not the place for me.

It's always good to remember what you have gotten into and what you can do with new short stories and the old coming up. :)

And, that's funny that they guy asked you if you wanted weed. I'd be a little worried about the machete guy, though.

Jamaica ... wow ;-)

And you're way ahead of me, lady! Keep on writing in the free world ... it's happening :)

Wow, I would have had nightmares if I ever saw a man carrying around a machete. As for weed, the only time I was offered any was on my honeymoon in Hawaii. I was so shocked, I couldn't believe it. Hubby and I just walked away.

Love both covers!

Sounds like a spooky place to me. Go for it.

I love the cover, and I've never been to Jamaica, but ... it certainly does sound interesting ... :)

Sorry about your rejections but it is good to remember the publications. Thanks for the heads up for the Gothic ghost story. It is a genre I've been collecting ideas for and may have a go at this.

Hope all goes well in Boston.

Denise :)

Oh, forgot to say, there's lots of Jamaicas in the world! The passageways down to the harbour in Genova Italy are pretty scary, as are machine-gun toting army-like dudes in airports and police in tanks with machine-gun thingys on top in Naples. All a shock to a girl from Oz.

Move on to better things down the road and don't look back. I've heard other scary tales about Jamaica, too.

I hope you find another place for your pirate story.

Good luck with your ghost story set in Jamaica. Sounds like you have some inspiration for your location!

I once saw a guy hitch hiking with an axe in hi hand. I didn't stop.

Wow, those are some good stories about Jamaica! Though, I'm sure they were disturbing at the time you lived through them. Scary machete-guy. The cover is luminous. Love it.

Aubrie, your odds are still heavy to the winning side, which is tremendous.
I'd heard Jamaica was laid back, but your stories are startling.
Good luck with your Jamaican ghost tale.

Sorry about the rejections.

Jamaica- The man with the machete sounds scary. What chance is there that is was for the crops?
