Short Listed and Another Anthology

My pirate short story, Skullhaven, is short listed for the Cutlass and Musket Anthology in the previous post! I just heard back today.

As for the BSO, I'll hear back from them by December 10th to see if I get a live audition. They have my recording, so all I can do now is wait.

I've started a new story for this anthology:

What a neat cover! I bet this one is harder to get into because it's a paying market, but I'm giving it a try. My story is a sci fi explorer story, set in the year 2568 called Timeshift.

Here's the beginning:

“Compatible planet found.”
The monotone computer voice echoed in Donnica's head as sound with no meaning. She reached up with shaky fingers and touched the ice crusted glass above her face. Tubes rustled from her arm and she yanked them out, squirming.
How long had she been in stasis?

Anyone else going to write for this one?

Congrats on being short listed :) (Though to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what that means since I don't write short stories and submit them ...) And good luck with the audition. Kudos to you for putting in your tape.

Congrats on being short listed!!! I'm hoping to write my pirate story sometime the end of this week or next week.

And, that's cool about the other anthology. I'm pretty terrible coming up with sci-fi ideas, so I don't think I'll enter that one.

Oh, I have my fingers crossed for you and the BSO too!!

Oh congrats and good luck. I like the beginning for your sci-fi piece!

Good luck with both!

I'm pretty much not writing for themes unless something strikes me with lightning: I've got over forty unsubmitted stories backlogged right now, not counting flash fiction ...

Congrats and best of luck on all those! Can't wait to read more of your stories.

First, congratulations on the short list!

Second, my fingers are crossed for you!

Third, just from the tiny teaser you put on here, I'd say you have a great shot! That was an awesome opening and I'm totally hooked!

Keep us posted...

Very cool. Congratulations on the first story's shortlist, and fingers crossed for the second one. The beginning of your story sounds really engrossing, and does such a nice job of making the reader want to go on. And you're right, it's a beautiful cover.

Great that you're short listed
Aubrie. By now you should have heard from the BSO. How could they say no to you?

I hope you get your story into Explorer anthology. I checked it out but subs have closed for this edition. I should stop by more often!

Happy New Year! I wish you every success in 2011!

Just thought I'd tell you Aubrie, a blogger called N R Williams has just released a fantasy with a flute-playing protagonist. Thought you might be interested in reading the synopsis:

She is embarking on a blog book tour today...I'm hosting her on Jan 27th.

No news yet?
