Yes, there will be another Pirates of the Caribbean!

I was going to blog about writing today, when I came across this article in People Magazine online about the new cast for the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I am sooo excited. Disney is thinking of this movie as being the first of a new trilolgy featuring Jack Sparrow.

Unfortunately Kiera Knightly and Orlando Bloom won't be in it. They've chosen a new actress to star alongside Depp as a siren of the sea: Astrid Bergès-Frisbey. She's from France and has starred in a few big roles before this. Penelope Cruz will also be in the new film.

On Stranger Tides is a historical fantasy novel written in 1988 by Tim Powers:

It is uncertain if they are going to use this tale for the movie, but I might pick up this book just incase.

What do think of these new developments? Can they make another Pirates movie exciting, or will it be the same old stuff rehashed? What do you think about a new triology?

No way!

Well I thought the last trilogy got a bit eh towards the end BUT a film with Jack Sparrow and a new plot sounds brilliant! The way they left it made me want more from him :~D

Excitement!!

Ooh that's exciting. I am looking forward to it despite not having watched third movie (even with the cliffhanger in the second). :D

I already had heard rumors about this, though not about the new actresses, but it is certainly fun to see it confirmed! Jack is my favorite character (I think everyone's, really) so movies about him will do really well!

I think if they cut back and confine themselves to a less labyrinthine plotline, it could be very good. For me, the first film had about as much complexity as you can fit in the visual media. (The second, too, I suppose, except that it didn't all tie off.)

Not a big Pirates fan. Johnny Depp has gotten so overdone that I can't stand to see him anymore. But I'm glad Orlando Bloom and Keira won't be in it--2 more actors I don't like...

I'm sounding like a bah humbug, huh? I'm sure I'll end up seeing this movie anyway. Who knows, maybe with a better plot and less camp, I'll actually like it.

You know, I hated the second movie so much that I didn't watch the third one. In fact, I can't even watch the first one anymore. I think it's kind of sad, but that movie just ruined the whole experience for me. :(

I only saw the first one, so I can't comment about whether they can do it again. Losing those two big stars is a pretty big blow.

YESSSSSSSSSSS. Was just watching the first one this weekend!! I know everyone loves Jack Sparrow, but Orlando Bloom also makes me weak :)

It wouldn't make sense to have Will and Elizabeth in more movies. They completely finished their story line.

I'll probably watch the new trilogy but I must admit that the second and third weren't nearly as good as the first one. I almost think they tried to do to much, the plot was too convoluted.

I have to admit I don't like this idea very much. I thought the last Pirates of the Carribean was extremely long and a bit dull at times. If they continue on with the Pirates movies, I can only imagine it will get worse.

Although I DO love Johnny Depp, so we'll see!

I loved the first, didn't mind the second and hated the third - but still am a Jack Sparrow fan :)

I'd probably watch if they made another.
