Now for the interview!!!  

1. You write in several genres! Tell us about all of them and if you have a favorite.

I prefer fantasy or Young Adult fantasy. I also like YA historical fiction. I love history and try and incorporate it into      most of my stories. I have written a mystery, historical fiction, Greek mythology retellings, YA contemporary, short stories, a children's book, plays, science fiction, fantasy, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, horror, steampunk...I guess that's it!  

2. Where did you get the idea for Lore of Fei?

 

I've always wanted to write about faeries and a land where faeries are not the tiny ones like Disney has but life-size ones that go through the same things the humans go through. Then I thought, what if the faeries weren't accepted in the human land and were looked upon as inferior? What if the humans wanted to take over their land? What would the faeries do? Would they fight for their land or give in?   

3. What are you currently working on?

 

I am working on a YA Dystopian, editing it. I had it written but when I went back to it I decided the ending didn't work. I am in the process of "gutting" it. Did I mention it has zombies in it? Zombies are my new passion. 

My second book in the LORE OF FEI series is called WAR OF FEI and it will be published in February, 2013. I have the title for the third one but haven't written it yet. I'm saving it for NaNoWrMo month(Nov. 1-30th, thirty days and nights of literary abandon-the month you write 50,000 words of a novel). I wrote LORE OF FEI during NaNo two years ago and WAR OF FEI this past year so why not write the third one this year? I guess NaNoWrMo month is my "faerie" month. LOL.  

4. What did you read growing up?

I read science fiction and fantasy. I began to read when I was three so by the time I was in school I was reading "grown-up" books. I discovered the library and used to spend Saturdays in the library reading all day. To me that was the best.   

5. Do you have any advice for writers hoping to get published?  

Keep writing. Write every day. Join a critique group. Get beta readers who read in your genre. Don't write to be published, write because you can't imagine doing anything else.
