Women of Foxwick by Cherie Reich

I'm so excited to welcome my critique partner, Cherie Reich to my blog today. She has a new release about strong female women in a magical kingdom. I helped critique this, and I'm so excited to share it with you today.

Here is the blurb:

A Fantasy Short Story Collection

Follow five women from Foxwick in this five-story fantasy collection.

A bard will lose her head, if she doesn't find the correct notes. A dragon seer must decide whether to betray her dragons or her fair kingdom. An assassin will journey to the Shadowlands to destroy Death. Twins are selected for the Mage Game, and a princess will journey to Valdale in search of the sorceress who can save Foxwick.

And my review:

Excellent word building and charming story telling create a fantastical atmosphere that will transport you to another world.

Women of Foxwick chronicles all of the powerful and clever woman living in Foxwick from the rulers down to the peasants and minstrels. Each tale works on its own, but they also tie together nicely to weave a tapestry of a well imagined world. Lady Bard is one of my personal favorites, telling a story about a lute player that must save the prince with her music to stay alive. Lady Death is a much darker quest story that really pulls on your heartstrings. Mage Game reminded me of a fantasy version of the Hunger Games- very neat and fun to read!

Each story features a strong female protagonist and gives you a window into the Foxwick world.

About the author:

Very cool. Love the idea of strong female leads in each story. And how they are of differing social and economic classes. And the woman on the cover dares you to read about her. :) Congrats!
