How I got a Book Signing at Barnes and Noble

That's right! My dream has come true! I will be signing books at the Manchester Barnes and Noble on November 12th from 2-4.

All I needed was a lot of courage, persistence, a charged battery for my cell phone, and for Paradise 21 to be labeled as "returnable" in the Ingrams book catalog. They won't book you if it isn't returnable. (At least all the stores in my area won't)

To find out if your book is returnable, give them your ISBN number, and they'll look it up and let you know.

Then, you need to find the person in charge of book signings. At one point someone in the Manchester store didn't recognize the name I was given during a previous phone call and gave me a totally different name, so be careful who you talk to. You may need to call back numerous times to get the right person. Be persistent. I must have called ten times.

How does a book get labeled as "returnable"? You have to ask your publisher about that one. Entangled Publishing took care of that part for me.

So, get out fellow authors!!! If little old me can do it, then you can, too!

Anyone have a book signing at Barnes and Noble before? Any advice?
Anyone going to call their local Barnes and Noble after reading my post?

Hehe! I've been telling you to have a book signing. I'm glad you're doing one. That's interesting to note about the returns policy.

I wish I could come to your book signing. Maybe someday. :)

Well done for getting the book signing! I admire your persistence. I can understand why they want the book returnable, but wouldn't have thought of it if you hadn't mentioned it.

Congratulations! If Manchester was closer to San Antonio, well, you get the idea :)

Congrats. The one piece of advice I've heard for a single author signing is to be active.

Try to engage customers as they walk by. Don't just sit at the table. So be standing and smile.

Good luck.

Good for you! I'm so glad you took a chance and did it.
Remind me closer to the date. I'll promote for you. Maybe I can even pop over!
