Star Wars Day is today!

"May the 4th Be With You"

Why I LOVE Star Wars:

*Born in 1978, I'm a total Star Wars child. My mom actually went to watch the first Star Wars movie with me in the womb. (1977)

*I grew up replaying the old movies on VHS tapes so many times, the quality of picture grew grainy. I can recite every word of the first three movies when I watch them and even act it out! (which drives my DH crazy).

*My first dog was named "Obie" after you know who! Now my dogs are named "Jedi" and Leia"

*My favorite vacation day EVER was when we got to see the actual costumes, Luke's speeder, lightsabers, Yoda, and the models at the Boston Museum of Science. There's one picture where it actually looks like Yoda is talking with me. I *heart* that picture. If I had a scanner, it would be up here on the blog right now.

*Star Wars gave me something to dream about. It provided the spark for my Space Opera writing.

*The music in Star Wars was one of the reasons why I chose to be a musician. I can still remember the first time I learned the theme song on my flute.

What are your memories of Star Wars? How has it changed your life?

I love Star Wars! Though, I'm not sure I would say it changed my life... I love the soundtrack and I love how the story builds love and action. It taught me some things about pacing :)

I love Star Wars too. And so do my kids. :) Gotta carry on the tradition.

And I love the scores by John Williams. My kids were arguing with the next to neighbor on the correct dum, dum da dum for Vader's March.

I grew up with starwars, had the toys. Wanted to be Luke until I realized I wanted to be Han instead. Darth Vader was always the coolest villian.

Not sure it's changed my life, but certainly enriched it!

When there's nothing good on, or when they play again on tv, we will DVR and watch them again! lol. Even though we have all the DVD's.

As a writer, I still stand in awe of the creativty behind the story.

I was never into Star Wars, though I thought Hans was hot . . . though I was only 9 at the time. :D

I love Star Wars! I started writing a book (well, kinda, just have the MC and one scene) where the MC is basically a female Han. Hmmm... I should get back to that sometime soon.

I'm a big Star Wars fan, too. I remember seeing Empire and Jedi in the theatre. I had a crush on Han Solo! I would play with my brother's action figures all the time and I was jealous he had Star Wars sheets.

I LOVE Star Wars. It is the first movie that I remember seeing in the theater. (I am older than you!) Now my kids love it just as much.

May the 4th be with you, too!

Love that it's Star Wars day! I'm another big fan! I remember lining up outside the theater to see it - so much fun :)

I love Star Wars. At least I love the first three movies (now known as IV, V and VI) the others I have watched once each and will probably never watch them again.

My hamster is named Wicket, and my parrot is named Mango Calrissian...

Yep, Star Wars shaped my childhood as well. I was a sci-fi girl before I ever discovered fantasy, and it was Star Wars (and I'll be honest, Star Trek) that taught me a lot about using one's imagination.

I was Princess Leia for Halloween one year. My mom braided nylons for my hair. :)

I love Star Wars - made my older cousin put my hair up like Leia, but it always fell down while I was running around the back yard with my other cousins pretending to fight Storm Troopers. :-)
The force was cool. Leia was a kick butt Princess instead of a screaming, fainting princess, and the rich visual scenes with the music captured my imagination.

Hehe.. I used to love it too! It's one of those things that you never really outgrow, I think :)

I like Star Wars, but truly I'm a Trekkie, pointy ears all the way!

And Aubrie, I want to thank you for posting the anthology market Fangtales--I sold a story!

Star Wars was the first movie I saw in the drive in theater. I still remember it...it was paired with The Bodygaurd and also had a "short" about dogs that could wait tables, serve food, etc.

I was born in 1977 too! Maybe it is a Karma thing!LOL

Hi Aubrie

So sorry I haven't visited your Blog for so long. I too loved Star Wars, altough I always felt the first three were best and haven't seen all of the following ones.

It seems I'm a LOT older than you - I remember recording 'Leia's theme' which I love, and using it as background music as I recorded myself narrating the short story that years later became the nvoel 'Starquest'!
