The Things I Admire in my Mom

Meet my ultimate critique partner and my beta reader: my mom. She's not afraid to tell me if she doesn't like something about my writing, and she always makes it better in the end.

This is my mom at one of my concerts. My dad is on the left, and my sister (who is going to be a mom) and her husband are on the right.

Things I admire about my mom:

1. Her love for her children
My mom has always wanted to be a mom. That is her purpose in life and she loves it! She always put us four kids above her own career, and stayed home to be with all four of us growing up.

2. Her positive outlook on life.
She always cheers me up after I talk to her on the phone. She makes me realize how much I have instead of how much I want to have.

3. Her love of birthday parties.
We celebrate everyone's birthday in my family with a ginormous party where the whole family gathers and eats and opens presents.

4. Her artwork.
My mom majored in Art at Plymouth State University and she drew the map for me for my epic fantasy, The Voices of Ire.

5. Her warm and caring nature
She loves to hug and is always there for me. She's never afraid to tell all of us children how much she loves us and how much she misses us being around.

Happy Mother's Day Everyone!

What do you admire about your mom?

What a wonderful tribute to your mom - she sounds like a wonderful woman! People say not to have family members critique you, but I consider my mom one of my most honest and insightful beta readers. Even though she's not a writer, she reads more than anyone I know and is very wise.

Happy Mother's Day!

What a lovely tribute! I admire my mom's courage--she moved many times in her marriage and went back to college at 50 to complete her degree and start a new career. Oh, and she had me at age 40, when my oldest brother was a sophomore in college! Brave, right?

One of the best things about Mothers Day is hearing others appreciation for their families.

Hi Aubrie, just wanted to say thank you for following my blog ^^

I'll be following yours too.

(My mom has always loved me no matter what I did in life, and this is one of the things I admire in her. Her ability to love unconditionally)

Aubrie, that's so cool that your mom is a beta reader AND an artist. What a good map.

What do I admire about my mother? She lives alone and doesn't make much money, but she takes care of most of the household tasks herself. My mother is proud of her independence.

Lovely post, Aubrie!

One of the things I admire most about my mother is she's determined and fearless. If she wants something, she goes and makes it happen. Yeah, I ... wish.

This is a wonderful tribute. I admired my mother's constant faith in me, and her cinnamon buns that she made every Saturday afternoon.

Wow, sounds like you have a great mom. You're so lucky she can draw. I can't draw like that and I'm envious.

What a wonderful tribute to your mom. I love mine, too, but she died when I was young. You're so fortunate to still have yours in your life.
